    On the subject of public transportation and highways: maybe the cost of doubling up the highways is lower in the US, but I don’t think that is the case everywhere. In Europe, especially around big cities where real estate comes at a premium, I don’t see how that can be the case.nnAlso: studies have shown that doubling up highway capacity does, in many cases, not solve the problem as it simply attracts more cars so it results in more people being stuck in the same congestion.
