But earlier this week BMW’s i-Ventures investment arm — along with some other influential companies — provided a total of $55 million in investment to electric bus manufacturer Proterra.

If BMW isn’t interested in commercial vehicles, and its own electric vehicle program is continuing to grow without any external input, what’s the real reason behind this latest investment, and what does it mean for the way we travel in the future?
