Earlier this week, Wired covered the news that team of researchers from multiple different Universities had discovered that it was possible to ‘hack’ an autonomous car (or at least cause it some confusion) by defacing or modifying street signs. In an extreme example, the researchers were even able to add home-made stickers to a stop sign in order to convince the car that the stop sign was a 45-mph speed limit sign instead.

Which got us thinking: what can confuse a self-driving car — and how can researchers and engineers fix it?
