Ever since the Dieselgate debacle of mid-2015, Volkswagen (and its associated companies Audi and Porsche) have been working hard to make themselves a new name. In Volkswagen’s case, this has included a newfound push toward electrification, with concept car after concept car rolled out at successive auto shows and major events.

But this week in Geneva, just as Volkswagen was unveiling its latest concept car in the form of the I.D. Vizzion, Volkswagen CEO Matthais Muller told reporters that he believed Diesel engines were going to experience something of a renaissance in the not-too-distant future.

Which makes us wonder: is Volkswagen really serious about electric cars?
