All jokes aside, there are a lot of companies around the world spending a lot of money investing in flying vehicle technology (it feels wrong to call many of them ‘flying cars’, but that’s the term that most people seem to have stuck with).

Yet, developing a flying car, pod, or other autonomous air transport isn’t just as easy as building the thing and proving the technology works. There are a lot of complicated hurdles which must be jumped through before any sort of automated flying personal transport is legal. And while some countries really want flying cars to become a reality, the legislative process seems to be holding them up.
