After last week’s official launch of the Audi e-tron, it’s been revealed that Audi of North America — and potentially other Audi regions around the world — won’t be making its first electric car available to pick up in a dealership like any other of its models.
Instead, customers will be asked to put down a deposit online.
This way of selling the e-tron does take some of its cues from Tesla’s online ordering system, but without Tesla’s own showroom model. Audi says this will allow its dealers to sell the car without worrying about expensive overheads, but will it help or hinder sales?
We think the latter, and here’s why.
