Tesla Model 3 Mid-Range: Buy, or Wait For Standard Range Instead?

Last week, Tesla surprised us all by announcing the start of production of a new variant of the Tesla Model 3 — The Tesla Model 3 Mid-Range.

With a longer range (and slightly higher price tag) than the Tesla model 3 standard range, the Model 3 Mid Range is priced at $45,000 U.S. before incentives. After incentives (assuming you can get them) it is priced pretty close to the promised $35,000 pre-incentive price for the standard Model 3.

By the time Tesla brings the standard Model 3 to market, there’s a possibility that incentives will either be much lower or non-existent for electric cars, so the question is this: should you buy a Mid-Range Model 3, or hold out for the most affordable model instead?
