Pickup trucks are extremely practical vehicles. They can haul large amounts of things, they can tow large trailers, and some are pretty good off-road too.
But while they’re loved for their utilitarian functionality, pickup trucks aren’t exactly all that efficient or clean when it comes to tailpipe emissions and fuel economy. And if we’re really to make a difference when it comes to global vehicular emissions, it’s likely our pickup trucks will need to get cleaner and greener too.
With battery shortages causing many issues around the world and the costs associated with building large pickups with large capacity battery packs a matter of concern, is there a way that could allow customers to have the best of both worlds?
Yes. It’s Called a plug-in series parallel pickup. And while some truck companies are trying to bring such vehicles to market, they lack some of the clout of larger automakers to make it happen.
