As electric battery technology improves and machine learning reaches a point where autonomous vehicle navigation and control is no-longer a pipe dream, we’re starting to see plenty of electric and hybrid vertical take off and landing craft promised, ranging from single-seat personal vehicles to air taxis.
Usually, such craft have been developed by startups new to the aerospace industry, but one company — Bell (Formerly Bell Helicopter) has leveraged its years of experience in the aerospace industry to bring its own take on VTOL craft to the table.
Meet the Bell Nexus, a production-intent craft that’s soon going to be entering production — and, says its creators — will be designed to work both with a human pilot and (eventually) autonomous control. What’s more, it could be Uber’s first flying taxi — and you could be seeing it take to the skies very shortly.
