We’re all used to thinking of electric cars as a cleaner, greener alternative to internal combustion engined cars — at least if you look from a well to wheel point of view.

But with electric car battery pack replacement not always an option, we risk turning electric cars into disposable vehicles in the same way that we dispose of other consumer electronics.

So should we try and work harder to factor in end-of-life recycling into a vehicle’s purchase price or lifespan?
