Nikola Motors Says It’ll Make Battery Electric Versions Of Its H2 Trucks: Does Is H2 Dead?

While pretty much every manufacturer of commercial trucks is now looking into either battery electric or hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, the battle between Tesla and Nikola Motors for supremacy in the big rig world has been clear for all to see. On one side, Tesla and its all-electric, Megacharging Semi. On the other, The Nikola One, Nikola Two and Nikola Tre hydrogen fuel cell plug-in hybrids.

Earlier this week however, Nikola announced it would also be producing battery electric versions of its trucks.

Does this mean hydrogen fuel cell technology is dead? Has battery power won out?

Or is there just a more practical explanation for the two powertrain choices?
