Will Small Single, Dual Seat, Quirky Electric Cars Ever Catch On?

Small city runabouts… quadricycles, or quirky little plug-ins — whatever you call them, you either love them or you loathe them.

From the tiny Renault TWIZY through to the Arcimoto FUV and the Electra Meccanica Solo, little electric cars have a small, but loyal following. Mainstream buyers meanwhile have traditionally shied away from them, citing concerns about practicality crash worthiness, and safety.

But as autonomous cars and autonomous safety systems hit the market, is there a possibility that these small, efficient, fun electric vehicles will experience a renaissance?

(And yes, that’s Nikki and her old CityEL: She’s owned a total of four different small EVs!)
