Tesla Customers Say Standard Range Model 3 Is Being Delayed: Why Is That?

Just under a month ago, Tesla surprised everyone by announcing that it would start taking orders for the Tesla Model 3 Standard Range (and unexpected Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus), with initial deliveries expected in start two to four weeks later.

Coming up on that timeline with scheduled deliveries confirmed for this week, Tesla customers are now being told that their Model 3 Standard Range won’t be arriving for another four to six weeks — and some Tesla employees are telling customers they won’t see one until the end of June. Meanwhile, while Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus cars are now being delivered, those who are waiting for a Model 3 Standard Range report Tesla trying to upsell them on a more expensive model.

So what’s going on at Tesla? Neither Tesla nor Elon Musk has publicly commented on the matter — but here are some common theories and ideas as to why what’s happening is happening.
